he Dal Panth resides in the heart of the town Baba Bakala near the village(pind) of ……….The Dal Panth first arrived at Baba Bakala in  …………during the times of the Anglo-Sikh wars.  The establishment of Baba Bakala as the base of the Panth begins with Bhai Mera Singh. In………… Bhai Mera Singh pleaded with Mata Ganga Ji and Guru Ji to visit him in Baba Bakala.

“Hai Matha Mehna Neva Ghar Bhanai Hon. Athe Pran Kitha Jido Tak Sri Guru Ji Deh Charan Nah Pa’laveh Vaseh Nai Karunga”.

Following Bhai Mera Singh’s humble request,  Mata Ganga Ji and Guru Ji visited the house of Bhai Mera. During the night, Mata Ganga Ji woke from a deep sleep by a dream that she had just had. She relayed the dream to Guru Ji and stated that it was shown to her in her dream that in the future Guru’s ladli fauj (Sennha) would reside in Bhai Mera’s house and it is here that she will transcend to Sach Khand.

“Hai Sath Supan Raath Ko Oh Ayaon Di Anth Apne Lakh Paio Samuh Sanghat Da Eko Hoey” – Suraj Parkash

After this bachan,  Guru Ji arranged a Rabibha Bala to carry out Kirtan. Upon hearing the last verse of Sukhamani Sahib, Mata Ganga Ji exhaled her last fragrant breath. Becoming free of her panjh bhootak Mata Ji transcended to Sach Kandh. This is referenced in the Suraj Partap Granth at page 1621.

“Phat Sukhmani Bhog Jab Payo Haath Jo Sab Sees Nivayo”

Mata Ji’s body (birbaan) was immersed into the river Bias, “Jithe Birbaan Rakhay Se”.Here now is a Gudwara which commemorates this which is named Mata Ganga Sahib.

Following this Bhai Mera initiated the Tilaka (Dastaar Bhandhi) Rasam at the Gurdwara to illustrate that Mata Ganga Ji blessed this place with a boon. Referenced in the Suraj Parkash at line 30.

Bhai Mehro Kayo Eha Prabj Ke Jeh Binchat Hoi. Mangeh So Leejyai Mal Heth Jag Kriaovoh Tilak Sabhon The Ehai Tah Pavo Guru Kehyo Chit Chahat Jo Hai Soi Bhee Tohai Dhig Hoeh”

The above passage translates as “Those who come here with love and devotion in their heart, their desires are soon to be fulfilled.”

Upon hearing the Tilak Bachan, Guru Ji replied that his connection with the land is salient it extends further than this life time and dates back to his first manifestation, the joth of Guru Nanak.  It was here that the Guru Gadhi was bestowed to the Gurus.

After hearing this Guru Ji left Baba Bakala and headed in the direction of Amritsar. As ordained, the Sixth Guru arrived here sometime after with the Khalsa Fauj (Army). Furthermore, Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib had been later residing in Bakala in a pind called Nanaka. Guru Tegh Bahudur Ji spent a substantial amount of time in Baba Bakala. Whilst staying in Baba Bakala, Guru Tegh Bahudur Ji was displeased with the animosity that which was displayed by the Sodhis towards himself.

Guru Tegh Bahudur Ji was approached by Bhai Mera as he was leaving.  Bhai Mera arrived with Saadh Sangat and pleaded with the Guru to stay. He then proceeded to ask Guru Ji when he would return, to which Guru Ji replied with anand and prem in his eyes – Bhai Sikha I have so much passion and love with Baba Bakala and its residents from my first janam. That is why after I leave the Guru Ji’s fauj (Tarna Dal) will reside in here.  This then became Gurdwara Patshai 6  - This is the very house that Matha Ganga Ji gave her bachan.

Following the preordained hukanmama, in  1700 - Misl Bangia, Misl Njya, Misl Ramgharia, Misl NIshan Vali and many more faujan resided here. They became the custodians of the Gurdwara and guarded them with great honour.

Jathedar Baba Sudha Singh Of Misl Shaheeda Baba Deep Singh Ji fulfilled this duty buy serving at this Gurdwara. However, the Guru’s Fauj became chakravarti  {on the move} during the Mughal’s invasions, but always returning to the Gurdwara.

Despite the tyranny that was unfolding in India during this time, the hukam of Mata Ganga Ji, Patshai chehvi and Nauvi had to be fulfilled. In the late 1800s, whilst India was under the British Raj, Baba Deep Singh Ji’s successor Baba Gurmakh Singh Ji remembering the Guru’s sach bachan announced his Gurdwara as the headquarters for the Shrimoni Tarna Dal Panth.

The headquarters holds affilialiation with all Jathi Bandiyan and is where all Gurmatha are held. The headquarters is known as Patshai Chehvi Gurdwara.

Baba Gurmakh Singh Ji also carried out the seva of creating five nectar reserves in Baba Bakala.

The Dal are custodians of the following Gudwaras/Estaans:
